Renewals & retries

Renewals are fully automatic. You don’t need to call any API: CreditCore charges the stored card and notifies you with a TRANSACTION webhook.

Schedule

• The renewal job runs every hour and processes every customer whose next renewal date falls within that hour.
• Only customers with renewals active are billed. Unsubscribing a customer stops future renewals.

Successful renewal

• Transaction type RECURRING_PAYMENT, success: true.
• The billing cycle (cycle) increases by one.
• The next renewal is scheduled after the product’s renewal frequency (in days).

Failed renewal

• Transaction with success: false and the gateway’s response_text (see Decline codes).
• The number of attempts (attempts) increases by one.
• The charge is retried 3 days later.

First charge never succeeded

For customers whose first charge was declined or delayed, CreditCore keeps trying with the stored card on merchant accounts enabled for rebills. It skips merchant accounts that already declined this customer.

Tip

Use the cycle and attempts fields of the TRANSACTION webhook to build dunning emails, for example “Your payment failed, please update your card” after the second failed attempt.
